WHO ARE WE
ONE TREE is an environmental nonprofit that unites the power of trees, people and technology to grow a sustainable future for THE WORLD. Simply put, our work is about helping nature heal our cities, our urban environments and to restore our natural rainforests.

OUR MISSION
ONE TREE mission is to inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the natural environment, making it safe, healthy, fun and sustainable and to share the process as a model for the world. Conservation & preservation are the keys to bringing the earth back into balance.

TREES + PEOPLE
Our first effort began in 1991 at The University of Massachusetts at Amherst focused on educating and inspiring people to plant and care for trees and to send a message to the world of peace to the Middle East and in our own backyard, here in the USA. Why? Because more trees means less carbon dioxide, cooler temperatures, cleaner air, replenished groundwater supplies and a safer, more beautiful environment. Preserving the rainforest and expanding the fruit tree program throughout the United States provides a foundational step of creating the next generation of environmental stewards throughout the world. But the worsening impacts of global warming, the looming threat of water shortages, and the decline of rainforest preservation tell us we need to act now.

TREES + PEOLE + TECHNOLOGY
Al Gore Inconvenient Truth was the great wake up call for the environmental challenge for generation X. Led by ONE TREE we ask an important question: What will it take to the change the climate change debate and how many trees do we need to plant over the next two decades to bring us into balance. Earth’s life-giving forests inspire a solution!
We can protect our natural forests and bring gardening back home ONE TREE AT A TIME. The use of social media and technology bridges the gap to make gardening an everyday feature of the home. Our task now is to assist communities to put technology into action alongside healthy, well-cared-for trees in order to create a Functioning Living Forest in every neighborhood across the USA and the world.

A PROMISING JOURNEY
This Earth Day we will begin our tree celebration with the opening of the ONE TREE FRUIT PROGRAM, where we demonstrate how trees, people and technology add up to hope for a sustainable future. It is the integration of these three factors that promises the greatest healing impact for our natural world and the future of living planet. As always, our vision will only lead to real change with help from our volunteers, donors, members and visitors. We invite you to get involved today!
